New JESConnect Version 5.3 Targets Greater Print Stream Security
Customers benefit as encryption protects mail stream intelligence
Boca Raton, FL, February 26, 2007 — Pitney Bowes’ Emtex Software, the leading provider of document output management solutions, announces a new version of JESConnect software with new data encryption capabilities to secure and protect print streams.
“Data security measures often overlook print traffic, leaving sensitive data unprotected. Without encryption, unauthorized parties can access confidential documents such as financial reports, salary reviews, budgets, bank statements and contracts,” said Nick Khatri, Emtex Global Marketing Manager. Lax security may also violate data protection regulations as mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other legislation. Even print data transmitted over internal networks is at risk. “Now organizations can maintain the highest levels of security and integrity as they transport mainframe data to output devices,” Khatri noted.
JESConnect Version 5.3 resident software securely integrates legacy mainframe print applications with Emtex FlexServer and soon with Emtex VIP products. As a Functional Subsystem under IBM’s Job Entry Subsystem (JES), JESConnect transparently transmits output data and job processing parameters via standard TCP/IP interfaces. As a result, an organization can deliver and print sensitive output across internal TCP/IP networks. It provides preliminary support for the z/OS 1.8 operating system and z/OS 1.8 JES2 and JES3 subsystems. The new version includes an optional Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) capability, which provides secure data transmission using public or private networks.
JESConnect 5.3 adds accounting information to JES3 data transmissions for better tracking and control. In addition, this modification makes it possible to acquire valuable additional job information while processing JES3 spool datasets. Users gain better understanding of their workflow and can better respond to problems.
JESConnect is an alternative to the higher priced proprietary programs for processing AFP print streams to various IPDS printing systems. Customers can move processing and storage from the mainframe to less expensive server-based processing and storage. Potential savings result from eliminating licensing and maintenance costs associated with PSF.
JESConnect 5.3 is scheduled for availability in March 2007.
